Nausea and stomach ache when to see GP

I have been suffering with on and off nausea and a feeling of rawness in my stomach for the last four weeks. I have tried gaviscon as at times it feels like heart burn but it hasn’t made any difference. I also tried lactulose as I think I have piles due to constipation as there is blood when I wipe sometimes and can feel what seems to be piles. The lactulose helped the constipation but this stomach ache/rawness doesn’t budge! Starting to think I may have an ulcer I have made a GP appointment for next week but wonder if I should wait a bit longer in case it’s a bug or maybe try an over the counter PPI rather than take up a GP appointment. Anyone have any experience of similar symptoms?

You need a GP appointment definately as ulcers are often caused by a bacteria which you will need antibiotics for. Make sure you mention the blood when you wipe. Over the counter PPI would be fine to take, hope it helps.

Rule of thumb is over 3 weeks

I think you should go and see your GP! I have got piles too, you have my sympathy.

Sound like Gastritis or Ulcers to me. I have been diagnosed with Gastritis, I am on lansoprazole for a month. Good luck!

Definitely go to the GP and make sure they do plenty of tests - not just for whatever springs to mind first. I've been seeing the same doctor for 3 months now with constant nausea and sporadic d&v and still no clue what it is or any treatment that works because they literally only tested for one thing at a time to begin with. They can rule out a lot of things with a few blood and stool samples.

Thank you, and same to you. The last time I saw my GP they told me to look up my symptoms online and see if anything came up because they cant think of anything it could be so I hope yours does a better job, heheh.

Might be worth trying a few dietary changes just to help rule things out while you wait for an appointment. Caffeine, dairy and gluten can all give you a rough stomach - my partner gets really bad stomach cramps and constipation with dairy and switching to A2 milk and cutting out cheese has really helped him. He had similar symptoms after a lot of coffee so we switched to low acidity coffee and he hasnt had an issue with it since.

Also, have you done a pregnancy test as that's probably one of the first things they'll ask when you mention nausea.

God that GP sounds like a nightmare! Thanks I’m gonna try cut out a couple of things in my diet before GP appointment Thursday see if it helps. Definitely not pregnant my LO is six months old not ready to go again yet lol

Sounds like gastritis, I had it a few years back had to take some medication for a month. Was horrible, couldn’t eat Any spicy food for a month, and that’s my favourite 😩

Hadenoughofitall441 Yes seems your right that’s what gp thinks! She gave me protium to take for a month she examined me and ruled out an ulcer as I had no tenderness. Gave me cream for the piles didn’t examine those said she would if the cream doesn’t work

Sorry to drag back this thread again. Just wondering if anyone has experience of what happens next. I’m tried the stomach tablets for a month all was good for the first three weeks then pain came back and is there now fully again since I’ve finished the tablets. Going back to my GP next week any ideas what shel do next ? more tablets? Hpylori check?

Are you stressed an unconsciously tensing your stomach and abdomen? Clenching stomach due to stress can cause all kinds of pains and problems with your stomach and gut. You might not realise that you are doing it.

Hi, I have been having the same problems since middle of December. GP has tested bloods - all ok, had an abdominal ultrasound - all ok, stool test for bacteria - all ok, had an endoscopy this week, this showed a 'lax lower oesophageal sphincter' I had been taking Lansopraole which helped with the sickness feeling but did nothing for the constant indigestion. GP has now given me Omeprazole to try instead.

He said the pain I get is in the large intestine and is caused by my stress levels and I need to just stop worrying and everything will go back to normal. But I do find movement makes things worse weirdly, I admit I have never felt so stressed and anxious so I am going to carry on for next few weeks and just see how I get on. Hope you get some answers. There are quite a few people on here that are also suffering .

I feel nauseous most mornings when I first get up. I told Dr I was worried about H Pylori because anti inflammatories make it much worse. A blood test was negative.
I can’t eat or drink anything acid. A bowl of porridge helps in the mornings.

Sorry @Hovverry just saw your post now. I might try porridge so I find mine is bad in the mornings too and at night

@overandabove1 did you get this sorted? im on week 4, nauseaus, stomach pain tenderness beginning to think ulcer x
