Handfuls of hair falling out

Over the past few months I've noticed absolutely loads of hair falling out, especially when I wash my hair. I'm scared to wash it now as I fear I'll have none left in about a month. My hair has noticeably thinned all over and I'm wondering how long this is going to go on for?

I know hair loss can be due to stress and I have definately had a very stressful year with various things but the hair loss has just been over the past few months.

Has anyone else had any experience of this? How long did it go on for and did the hair grow back and thicken up again eventually?

Hi,

my sister has a 4 month old, and her hair has fallen out in clumps - uou can actully see her scalp in bald patches all over her head - even when she has her hair up,

just completely bald patches.

Shes been diagnosed with alapicha (sp?) and has been told theres not much the doctors can do - its stress related and she needs to try and de-stress herself

Any hot flushes, fast heart rate to go with it? My hair started to fall out and it turned out i had an over active thyroid - worth getting it checked out

Hi, thanks all, no hot flushes etc to go with the hair loss (thank god) and yes I have had kids but the last one was 16 months ago and I did have the hair loss related to that ages ago. This is, I am very sure, stress related but I am kind of worried how long it's going to last. I suppose the stressful things in my life have got better so maybe it will take a few months for my hair to realise?
