Ohh that has nearly given me a panic attack just looking at it!

onlyjoking9329 · 31/08/2007 21:49

he has a brain tumour and is soon to start radiotherapy & chemo . he needs a head mould to wear whilst having the radiotherapy. the mould will be bolted to the table to ensure he doesn't move.

Charlie999 · 31/08/2007 21:53

When does the treatmet start OJ? Is he happy to have it done now?

onlyjoking9329 · 31/08/2007 21:53

yes he has lovely smooth skin, the lilac stuff is the same stuff they use at the dentists to make moulds it has a really strong mint smell. so he smells like a polo mint.

pooka · 31/08/2007 21:53

Crikey. Hope all goes well.
Your children look lovely BTW.

onlyjoking9329 · 31/08/2007 21:57

his thoughts on treatment change by the hour.
he has to go back for detailed scans on 4th sept they will take measurements of tumours and mark on the mask so they know where to direct the radiotherapy.
if he didn't have a mask he would have to have tattoo points all over his head.
plus they cant risk him moving his head so mask will keep him still

Biglips, they will make a template from the mould with markings on,this will then be bolted down to the table, over Steves head and face.It has two purposes,to ensure that Steve doesn't move during treatment and to enable the radiographer to aim the radiotherapy beams at the correct spot at each session.
Thinking of you both OJ.

OJ - My cousin's little lad had to go through this last year at only age 6 diagnosed with a I can't remember the medical term now but suffice to say brain tumour - he freaked too - then thought it was dead cool like something out of Dr Who !! Anyway - it was all zapped - they got the 6 month all clear but now it seems he has "scattered" secondaries and a bit of a fright on his femur - but he's breezing it !!

My prayers and thoughts are with you and yours - especially polo man !!
