Woke up yesterday with stinkin headache but took tablets as normal and continued with my day .I took Dd to my dental appointment with me and left Ds with hubby till i got back. After dentist Dh went to work and phoned once to see if i was ok,told him how bad it was and i neede to go to bed as was sick and full migraine had come on.
I ended up putting Ds (aged 1 ) to bed at 6.30 and Dd sat with me until 7pm (her bed time) i followed straight after .Dh got home at around 11pm i think and next thing i know he's saying goodbye again with a kiss at 6ish. I'm so angry and i feel like cr*p,why wont he just give sympathy ever and stay home wheni need him to to look after the kids. (by the way i'm never ill and even when pregnant i still was walking the dog and everything else till due dates)what can i do to make him understand???? I know he loves me but he is not a sympathetic type of man (as his staff at work say too-he's not sympathetic ever) PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Oh louee, no need to be sorry, you are not whinging!
Migranes are AWFUL. I have only had 3 ever, but my DS1 who is only 8 has suffered from the for years. I feel so sorry for him because he gets them often.
There are things you can get from the chemist for migranes like migraleve(sp) so maybe that would be worth a try.
can't say much about you DH, most men are the same. But when they have a cold they think they have got the flu!!
Also if you are stressed about anything that can bring migranes on....are you?

Titania · 01/10/2004 10:37

migraleve is very good....get the combined packet of pink and yellow tablets...you take the pink one first then after so long, if it doesnt go away, take the yellow one.

drink pleny of water, lay down and cover your eyes.

I have suffered with migraines for years and can totally sympathise with you....you poor thing....

whitefeather · 01/10/2004 10:47

migraleve does work for me, the only thing that takes mine away is disolvable solphadine! men are all the same, id been feeling ill yesterday and everyone commented on how crap i looked, ( i did look pretty rough) dp came in from work and i asked if i looked poorley, his reply ..no you look fine! hes like your dp very unsympathetic you have to be pretty ill to get tlc off him x

whitefeather · 01/10/2004 10:47

sorry that was meant to say migraleve doesnt work for me, must start checking my posts

Avalon · 01/10/2004 11:29

See your GP. Migraleve does not work for me either. From my GP I have Paramax - which is paracetamol and something to stop me being sick - and codeine tablets 30mg.

sweetkitty · 01/10/2004 11:43

Totally sympathise with you, I've suffered from migraines and stress headaches since a child.

Before becoming pregnant I would go as far as saying I was on the way to being addicted to painkillers, was taking far too many migraleve and solphadine. When pregnant I couldn't take any so managed to wean myself off the painkillers and caffeine as I cut down to one can of diet coke a day, don't know what worked but I very rarely get headaches these days.

Sorry to waffle what I meant to say is that I got some tablets from the docs called Sanomigran that are migraine preventers, they worked really well.

Tessiebear · 01/10/2004 11:52

Louee - my Dh is EXACTLY the same as this - in fact when i am ill he seems to leave EARLIER than normal and arrive home LATER He just doesnt get it! The funny thing is though if i am putting a really brave face on something (had a wisdom tooth out at the surgery and just carryed on as normal and mentioned it to him later that day) he is suddenly really caring and considerate!

louee · 01/10/2004 11:59

thanks everyone have booked an appointment for the doctors but can't get in till monday. Its awful I dont have much caffeine or chocolate and chees which the doctor told me before were major things to cause migraine.I've tried migraleve but it also doesnt work for me also codeine,co-codamol,nurofen ,those daft headpatches(which i may as well stick a flannel on the head for all the good it does)so I need something was wondering about natural remedies if any ? is it possible? As for stress nothing unusual normal stuff. Cant lie down as both dd 3 is about and Ds 1 is on the go and wont sleep till bedtime tonight now.Dh not due home till 6pm so got to carry on. I feel awful for moaning now.

Poor, poor you, Louee. I'm a fellow migraine sufferer and can imagine how cr*p you feel atm. As well as seeing your Dr you could keep a diary of all you do/eat etc and see if there's a pattern to your migraine. The Migraine Association has some useful info, too. To temporarily relieve the pain try massaging your hand, at the fleshy point between your thumb and first finger. Feel around and you'll find a slightly tender area. Using the thumb and first finger of the other hand, gently massage the area. It's an acupuncture point and can give you a bit of relief.

Avalon · 01/10/2004 14:06

Citrus fruits and red wine are also possible triggers.

Drink plenty of water if you can hold it down - dehydration alone will cause headaches and it can set off one of mine.

Low blood sugar is another of my triggers as is very bright sunlight.

louee · 01/10/2004 17:19

thanks again ,Oh thanks for the tip suedonim I will definately try that, spoke to Dh a little while ago ,he said "why not get some fresh air that will do you good",HE SAYS FRESH AIR WHAT DOES HE THINK IM DOING WHEN IM PICKING DD UP FROM NURSERY LOOKING LIKE A BLOODY ZOMBIE(oops sorry for the shouting words) I can't help marrying the most incensitive guy in the world !!! Oh well best to wait till the docs eh? more remedies accepted and will try them!!! thanks for listening to my moaning, xx
