Is it normal for a 2 year old to have a nosebleed?

Sorry if this is a really silly question, but ds who is 2.3 had a nosebleed last night in the night. It seemed quite heavy (blood everywhere, looked like a massacre had taken place when we went in). This is the first nosebleed he's ever had and he just seems so young.

He seems alright in himself, he's a little bit subdued, but that could be due to the interrupted sleep he had. He still woke up at his normal time this morning.

Don't worry unless it happens loads and loads. My dd has the odd one and dh did as a child too, I don't think it's anything sinister, just one of those things.

Yes, it's normal unless it's happening all the time. DS (2.7) had his first a couple of days ago. I've never had nosebleeds but DH did as a child.

Thank you both. I was very worried but dp says nosebleeds seem to run in his family. It's just ds seems so small. He actually didn't seem to notice it was coming from his nose. He thought he'd wet the bed!

Yes, normal. Nosebleeds are usually to do with burst blood vessels. When I was still nannying, the 2 year old had a big one in the back of the car because he had just sneezed!
