lloyds chemist do a diabetes test for free.

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:33

I personally think it would be far quicker if you can get to a lloyds chemist, they do it there and then in a private room and you get a form to give to your doctors.

I do it every six-twelve months as it is in our family.

this may help

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:33

bugger sparkly you bet me to it

Biglips · 30/08/2007 21:34

unknownrebelbang · 30/08/2007 21:35

Must send DH to Lloyds Chemist. Our GP has just sent off bloods and urine sample for him.

Biglips · 30/08/2007 21:37

thanks. ill pop down tmrw. Does it have to be a big lloyd one as weve got a small one

OP posts:
sparklygothkat · 30/08/2007 21:38

we only have a small one and they do the testing there

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:38

As both sparklygothkat and I said, it takes about 10 minutes, usually no appointment necessary and you get the responses instantly.

Hows all with you and yours sparkly?

sparklygothkat · 30/08/2007 21:40

I have just been diagnosed with Gestational diabetes, which I am hating..

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:44

ouch, I was tested for that with dd2 and was just gone 8 months and borderline, but nothing was done.

It's horrible isn't it?

Biglips · 30/08/2007 21:45

is that bad sparky?

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:46

You going to get it done biglips? tip of your finger might be sore after, but, you will have the results instantly. In fact, I'm due soon.

Biglips · 30/08/2007 21:48

yes ill go first thing in the morning. Will they tell u there and then too or they forward it onto my docs for results?

OP posts:
sparklygothkat · 30/08/2007 21:49

I just hate not eating sugar and having no sweeties!! Its just that I hate most of the food that I am actually allowed

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:50

They give you the results there and then on a sheet, they keep one copy, and you get two, one to keep and one to give to your doctors.

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:51

U allowed honey sparkly? that;s a general good sweetener.

sparklygothkat · 30/08/2007 21:53

not sure about honey.. am eating melon atm..

Radley · 30/08/2007 21:55

eugh! galaxy or melon?

sparklygothkat · 30/08/2007 21:56

would prefer chocolate but not allowed it.. luckily i like fruit..

Jenkeywoo · 30/08/2007 22:02

I've recently been to my docs to get tested for diabetes - it runs in my family and I have had some symptoms. He told me that neither the simple blood (as offered by loyds pharmacy) or urine tests are not reliable and cannot be guaranteed to give an accurate. He is sending me for blood test at hospital for which I have to fast for 12 hours previously. If you are really worried I would ask your gp, mine had no problem referring me for testing.

Biglips · 31/08/2007 13:28

oh well i went and not had it done as didnt know i not to eat or drink 2 hours before !

will go in tmrw first thing
