Lump on labia, advice needed

Good morning, yesterday I found a lump on my labia. I’ve been to the walk in centre this morning and the doctor had a look. It’s a hard pea shaped lump which doesn’t look like a cyst. It is painful. 15 months ago I had a mole removed from my eye and I’m waiting on biopsy results for a lesion on my ankle, my Dad died from skin cancer so these lumps and bumps worry me a bit. Anyway, the doctor said there’s no point referring me because I’ve only had the lump a day and to wait a while and go back for a fast track referral. So my question is how long would you wait?

Sorry you're going through this.
Tbh I would of asked for a referral there and then! Maybe a week? Surely after a week there could be so improvement they can't expect you to wait much longer.

Hi Pixie, I did ask to be referred, but the doctor said they wouldn’t be able to do it as a fast track. So it would be better to wait and go back.

A hard, pea-sized lump could very well be a small infection - I get them once or twice a year.

If it is a small infection, it should disappear by itself within a few days, definitely within a week. I would go back and ask for a referral if it hasn’t gone within 7 days.

I had something like this a while back very painful pea sized hard lump, I believe it was an ingrown hair infection and it was gone in a week. It felt very sore though.
Try not to think the worst (easy to say) as there is lots of explanations but if a dr has seen it I'd say he'd have a better idea than anyone here who hasn't.

Google bartholins cyst.

Helpmyself · 20/01/2020 12:47

I was just going to say Bartholins cyst. Agree with PP if not gone in a week go back but I’ve had this and it went of it’s own accord.

Following as I have the same - not sure if was normal or not. Found recently

I get something similar from time to time, hurts like hell but disappears after a few days, maybe up to a week.

Whoops75 · 20/01/2020 12:51

I had this and it was a bartholins cyst

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 20/01/2020 12:55

If it appeared very quickly it's probably a wee abscess, like PP are saying, look up bartholins, hope you feel better soon, but if it's not gone in a week I'd go back.

Ingrown hair?

wirehairedandwrinkly · 20/01/2020 13:48

They had a good look and said it doesn’t look like a cyst, it’s hard and pea shaped. My first thought was it’s a cyst, so was surprised when they said not. Hopefully it’s just one of those weird random cyclical things that will clear up in a few days.
