Ds started getting pain in his foot yesterday afternoon, he says he hasn't injured it or knocked it, hes in a lot of pain.
I have given him neurofen over night but this morning hes in tears and has a job to walk.
I am waiting for GP to call, just wondered if anyone knew what this could be?

Bit odd. I'm intrigued, please post message when you know what's wrong. My ds also 14. Could he have knocked it without realising? Could be growing pain?

If he hasn't knocked it it's a bit of a mystery. I had pain just there when I broke my 5th metatarsal (just call me Beckham!) but I was dancing rather over energetically to Bon Jovi at the time and landed funny.

Has he jumped off a step or anything? My DS decided to jump off a low wall one evening on his way home - fractured a bone in his foot. It can happen surprisingly easily.

Definitely should see GP though.

Agree its very easy to fracture bone in foot. Ds2 (15 months old then) did this 2 days before we flew to Greece last year! He only stubbed it on sofa and i knew immediately it was broken. He fractured metatarsal and was put in plaster cast, which they wouldnt let him fly in!! But thats another story!

At a similar age I got a really bad pain in my foot. I hadn't bumped it or knocked it that I could remember either. When I finally went to the doctor it turned out to be a stress fracture. I still don't know exactly what from - the doctor assumed it was from something (involving repititive motion) at the gym because I had recently joined that.

Saw the GP and he couldn't find anything obvious,he prescribed 400mg ibuprofen 3 times a day. Ds was sobbing with the pain yesterday afternoon had to crawl up the stairs to have a bath bless him, but the pills seem to have helped, hes much better today, it will remain a mystery i suppose!
Thanks for all ideas though

Did gp not send ds for xray?

I would recommend that he see a podiatrist. They may be able to identify the problem.
