Patch psoriasis

I took my daughter to the doctors Tuesday about a big, red, dry circle on her leg which they have said it patch psoriasis. They’ve gave me a cream to put on the area.

Since then though I have noticed she has lots of red spots over her body. Theres quite a lot around her elbow

Does anybody know if this could be connected? Or something completely different?

Hi, I have psoriasis and the elbows and knees are quite common places for it to be so it could be the start of more patches sometimes mine starts off as a little kind of spot and unfortunately grows bigger. Hope that helps.

Hi I suffered with psoriasis for years. I've tried loads of creams. Having a good healthy diet with zero sugar has massively improved mine and I only have small barley visible patches.

Yep... It starts out as red raised bumps. Loves elbow, knees and scalp the most 😕

I had my tonsils out years ago and it mostly cleared up. Strep b can trigger a flare up.

Can I ask how old she is?

It’s kind of spread all over her body now and they seem quite seperated. Lots of red spots just spread all over her. She’s only 2

Is there a family history of it?

The doctor seemed to think it might be something else when we went. (They said the big circle patch was psoriasis). But he wasn’t sure himself what it was. Gave us some anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti biotic cream to use until tomorrow but that hasn’t worked. In fact if has just got worse and worse everyday. It’s all over her face now aswell what would help psoriasis then?

Balneum emollient bath is great but works best if you soak in the bath for ages. Smells lovely too, unlike many psoriasis preparations.

I also bath in Dead Sea salts and find pure Dead Sea mud soap really calms the psoriasis.

Agree with the advice about small spots dotted all over the body. This always signals an impending flare for me. If I succumb to a sore throat or chest infection, I know what’s coming my way.

Psoriasis is not great, so commiserations if she does have it. However, treatments are so very much better now than when I was a child, so do go back to the GP if you find current prescriptions aren’t working.

The doctor wanted us to try the creams, bath wash and medicine for a week and to go back tomorrow. So we’ll see what he has to say tomorrow!

Keeping the patches well moisturised helps with any creams or lotions, as they seem to soak in better.

Might be worth asking for a throat swab to check for strep b infection.

When I was in hospital with a bad flare up, many years ago, a young lad was in with me. There was no family history of it but he had it and it was caused by a lingering strep b infection. They treated the infection and the psoriasis went shortly after.

Yeah possibly. She does have massive tonsils but don’t know if that’s normal or not? She doesn’t seem like she has a sore throat

Oh poor thing. If GP isn't sure ask for dermatologist appointment

Been to the doctors and they’re now saying it’s not psoriasis at all. Not even the first patch. He’s still unsure what it is though

Thank god it's not psoriasis, it's hard to manage. If her tonsils are enlarged the doc will prob put down as "viral infection" . I hope she's better soon and you get answers.
