ok ds not vaccinated so pro vaxers I am aware of your stance thanks. But for those who have unvaccinated children [and struggle with the fact that there is no single tetanus vax] can you offer me any advice? Ds, nearly three, dragged his shin over a short pointed wooden fence around a flower bed on Saturday. Has a series of scratches on his shins which bled at the time. We were away from home so i had to drive to chemist to buy antiseptic, cleaned cuts about twenty mins after injury. Obviously panicking now about tetanus. Do your children get cuts and scratches outside, I'm assuming they do. I am wondering if i should take him to A&E but am assuming they are just going to give him the 5in 1. Will try to get him a tetanus shot when we go to Germany in December, but right now not sure what to do. Any advice gratefully received...

I'm sure there is a single tetanus shot available as that's what they give in A&E if people haven't had a booster in the last 10 years, or perhaps that is only for those who've already had a full childhood course.

Hi
my dd is completely unvaccinated but I'm afraid that like you Ihave no answer to this. She is soon five and everytime I think that i must consider this I come up with zilch.
can't do thimerosal, can't do multiple jabs.

i wonder if there is a different kind of vax in Germany, I've no idea -I'm going to ask. Ds's specialist offered us the Polio, Diptheria and Tetanus vax once tho lost touch with him now as he was from Australia, have to find out if he is still at the hospital. I guess your dd gets scrapes and cuts outside pagwatch? I'm guessing unvaccinated kids do.

ruty, maybe contact Direct Health 2000 and see if they know of a Thimerosal-free alternative? I've no idea how likely this is, but if there is one, they will know of it, and probably offer it.
They are based in London but have branches outside now I believe

thanks Marina I haven't asked them but have asked the specialist at the hospital [who was a immunologist] and he was adamant there was not a single tetanus vaccine for children. Very tricky.
