Piles - help please

The pain is so bad! I'm crying! I've never had them before and was diagnosed a month ago.

Had prescription creams and suppositories but they have never cleared up and the pain today is excruciating. It's constant. I can't sit / walk / stand!! I have been using over the counter creams and suppositorys everyday since then.

Any tips to help ease the pain???

The only thing I find helpful when the pain is like that, is a soak in a hot bath. Alternatively, take some toilet roll and fold it up. Dampen it with water (run the tap into the sink, turn it off and the place the loo roll into the damp sink) and then pop it between your bum cheeks. It's not as effective as the bath but it works until you can get to one

Talcum powder is worth a shot! I used that for relief when I was pregnant and had piles

Ice them! Honestly, it's been amazing for me.

I rolled up some little cloths so they were thin / cigar sized, wrapped in clingfilm and froze. You can also buy specially shaped ones from Amazon.

Okay bath first. Then the ice for intermittent relief.

I would never have thought something so minor could cause this amount of pain!

Make sure you avoid getting constipated as that will make them worse. Has your gp spoken about getting them banded to remove them? I've also had an operation to remove them. Had to take 2 weeks off work though.

Are you using the suppositories several times a day? I think it's after every BM and morning and evening, if I remember correctly. Once you get rid of this set, it will be easier to keep them at bay by treating them at the first sign.

Have you been back to gp? I had mine banded in September, no issues since. Hurt for the rest of the evening, but went back to work the next day.

Have you tried pushing them back inside with you finger? Sorry, probably tmi!

I've used nappy cream in the past when nothing else was helping, and it did improve things (disclaimer: I was desperate; I've no idea if it's a good idea or not).

Oh I feel your pain.

I've been suffering with them for about a month now. Never had them before and they have been agony.

The itching is unbearable. I've been using Annusol cream and suppositories just from the chemist and although they have shrunk (I had quite a large protruding one) I'm still in a great deal of discomfort. I'm waking up 2/3 times a night. I've now also got thrush because of the warm, moist cream I suppose.

I've managed to get a doctors appointment this morning and he's prescribed some cream and suppositories (Scheriproct) I'm hoping these do the trick. Took me three chemists to get them though.

They are bloomin awful things.

Had them when I was pg with dd. Midwife advised soaking a sanitary pad in witch hazel and chilling it. Worked a treat. Utter bliss.

This might be too much, but can you use a mirror & have a look at them? I ask because I had one that was "thrombosed" and had to see the doctor. It was horrific. Google it if you're feeling brave.

Oh & if you use ice, be careful of not letting it melt & run towards your vagina - I got thrush to add to the piles.

So far the warm water has worked well. A warm bath is the only time they don't really hurt. But yesterday I cried for an hour as I could not stand, sit, lie down. The pain was awful.

I keep alternating between light constipation and dioreah so it's always painful after going.

The pain is soooo bad. So off to the docs I will go in the new year.

Are you using Anusol cream? There are 2 types - make sure you're using the one with cortisone. I think it's described on the box as "4-way relief" whereas the non-cortisone one is "3-way".

This may sound stupid but are you taking pain meds, it never occurred to me when I was in pain with them, but it did help until they gave me a steroid cream.

When I had painful piles, my gp suggested that I tried a different cream as some of the medicated ones can actually make the skin more sore. I switched to something more gentle (think it was preparation h) and it really helped.

If you are having irregular bowel movements along with the piles, go back to your GP. They may want do a flexible sigmoidoscopy so they can check your bowel and have a look at the piles at the same time and think about doing banding.

Sanitary pad in witch hazel - put it in a sealed plastic bag in the freezer for a hour then between your bum cheeks. Midwife tip after I had DD.

How are you doing OP?

I've been using the suppositories and cream the doctor prescribed me but I'm still in a great deal of discomfort. I can feel my larger one has popped out again. Think I'm going to get a mirror and have a look. I'm not itching as much so maybe that's a good sign. Are they waking you up during the night?

I have suppositories for 5 more days and then it's back to the doctors.

Have you tried Anosol Hc ? it’s the best piles cream by far , contains a steroid so shrinks the pile fast.
