Poor Ds3 and his sore swollen willy had abath and lots of disgusting greeny gunk came out.

He turned the same shade of green....

ds2 has this at the mo and is on abs from the dr, haven't noticed any pus yet but he won't let me within a foot of it at the moment.
Tried to wash it (and under the foreskin) in the bath this am and you would think i was murdering him!

Have you taken your ds to the dr?

pooka · 24/08/2007 20:14

Oh dear that sounds grim LTH. Ditto is he on abs and has he seem the doctor? If not I think he should, particularly if it's uncomfortable.

ShinyHappySchmooo · 24/08/2007 20:14

Yes it can do. Any infection can cause pus.

If it keeps happening, circumscision can be a good idea. DS1 (now 15) had this done when he was 3. He would have kept getting balanitis otherwise; his foreskin was just too tight.

LadyTophamHatt · 24/08/2007 20:18

Went to the doc this moring and he gave us canestan cream.

GP retracted Ds3s foreskin a little then but nothing appeared(it went back easily too so not tight), swelling had increased a little over the day but has gone back down again now which is hardly surprising as there was ALOT of gunk.

The first lot cam out of its own accord, once he was in the warm water.

"Muuuum...theres all this yukky stuff coming out of my willy" I tell you that sentence made me stop in my tracks!!!

What causes it? Balanitus I mean, not the gunk!

LadyTophamHatt · 24/08/2007 21:36

It basically thrush in little boys. But in men it can be sexually tranmitted too.

I 'm quite shocked at how much gunk there was...
Ewwwwww, it maeks me feel a bit green actually.

How is it now LTH?

chocolatemummy · 27/08/2007 20:38

ermm, my dh had this and has his foreskin removed and the problem was over in one cool snip "so to speak" he ad no discharge though just slightly swollen, couldnt move foreskin and difficulty peeing, not nice to think of cutting forskin off little un's but it might be a sign of future problems, better to nip it in the bud?

crimplene · 27/08/2007 22:30

DS has the same problem now and it sounds v similar. The doctor told me that it could be either some kind of skin irritation, fungal infection, or bacterial infection. It seems to be fungal. We were given antibiotics plus steroid/ antifungal cream and were also told that if it keeps happening, we should consider cicumcision. It's sort of at bay just now with Canesten squidged under his foreskin.

Chocoalatemummy: I've no problem with circumcision for religious reasons, or if it's really medically necessary and I have to say that, personally, I prefer having sex with circumcised men as I tend to agree that it is more hygenic and they tend to last longer (ahem!). But I'm really reluctant to have DS circumcised. It seems wrong to me to remove parts of his genitals so blithely, especially as he might feel strongly about it when he's older as quite a few men do. I can't agree that 'nipping it in the bud' (ouch!) is a good idea.

eww poor boys

ds got a swollen penis on our first day of holidays (had visions of trying to find out of hours doctors etc.) - luckily we had some old canestan with us but what really seemed to help were salt baths so that might be worth a try if you get stuck.
