Infected burn

I burnt myself on the oven on Sunday and now it is red, painful and oozing. It's only small though, so it seems a bit ridiculous to go to the doctors with, plus I'll have to wait ages. Is there anything I can do at home? I've only got Savlon ointment, but is weeping so much it won't stick. Thanks in advance!

You need to clean it and put a dressing/ plaster on it. I'm sure it'll be fine but it needs to be kept covered Smile

size is not important, if it is infected I think you should get it looked at.
is there a minor injuries or walk-centre that you could go to. if you can get there early, they are less busy usually. at least ring 111.
please do not ignore any damage to soft tissue with signs of infection.
rare serious complications can occur, and if they do, they can gallop out of control.
let us know how you get on. good luck.

A infected burn can lead to sepsis.

You need antibiotics and ideally not waiting till Monday

I've got the same on my thumb. I saw a pharmacist who told me not to use any ointments or creams on it; and to keep it dry and covered with gauze. The oozing is lessening!
