Lump in armpit

I've had a lump come up over the past day. At least I think it's only just come up but i only noticed it because it started feeling sore yesterday evening. I had a look this morning and you can see a slight swelling just under the skin in my armpit. It's sore to the touch and a bit painful when I move my arm up.
It feels almost like a boil type spot.
Obviously I'll be going to get it checked out at some point but other than the worst thing what could it be? I'm too nervous to google!

Don't google! That way lies disaster. Dr Google is never reassuring. And Dr Mumsnet won't be much better. Get it checked out and try not to worry over it. Hope you can get an appointment soon so your mind can be set at rest.

I've got those lots of times, it's most likely an infected sweat gland ie an abscess. They often just get better themselves, sometimes need antibiotics or draining. Obviously I'm not a doctor but that's my experience over many years.

I had this and got checked out. It was swelling of my lymph node under my arm. They asked me questions whether I had just had a tattoo on the side of the swollen lymph node or if I had scratched myself - apparently this can cause lymph nodes to swell, apparently even shaving can too!
When I get a cold my glands always swell on the same side too. I wouldn't worry too much especially if you've just noticed it. Could be anything! And if your thinking the worst- don't!

@AlviesMam I had just shaved about an hour before it started to bother me. Hopefully that's all it is.

Most likely swollen lymph gland.

I have a swollen gland in my armpit that has been there for well over 20 years. I had it checked initially, dr not worried but said to 'come back if it gets worse'.

It used to get sore and painful premenstrually and ease off when my period started but never went away. I am 10 years post menopause now and it is still there but small and not painful.

Lymph node probably or just a cyst?

Most likely a small infection from shaving. I get them every now and then. If it’s still there in three to four days, then make a GP appointment.

Probably from shaving. wash it, put sudocrem, germolene or savlon on it, no deodorant till it's gone.
