Anyone got this virus? Mild flu?

For the last week I have felt crap.

Exhausted, on and off sore throat, snotty nose (but clear, not green like a cold), loss of appetite, stomach pains, dizzy spells.

I've had my flu jab but definitely feel more fluey than coldy!

Anyone else suffering?!

Yes my daughter has had it 2 weeks now and is really bad. Coughing, breathless even when doing nothing, bad throat etc. Lost her voice. The doc now says she thinks it might be flu but not sure and it will probably take her a month to recover

PutOnAHappyFace · 14/12/2019 09:28

My DD has confirmed flu (swabs done) and has had the flu jab. She had same symptoms, not classic can't get out of bed flu but its definitely flu. She's had it a week and it's starting to not feel so crap now.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm into week 3 and still feel crap- this week have had a terrible sore throat with ulcers on and around my clacker-Thursday saw my voice go and today I have woken up with conjunctavitis

Cooking an early xmas lunch next week for 35 and not looking forward to it :(

CoffeeandChocolateplease · 14/12/2019 18:23

I've had what I assumed was the worst cold I've ever had - had the flu jab 2 months ago and coughing up green not clear (normal for me when I have a cold) but it's been 6 days now and I still feel like I've been hit by a truck. Loss of appetite (usually the opposite with a cold) and hardly any sleep for 5 nights. You have my sympathy, it's awful.

Yes - virus from hell has knocked most of my family out. We're all like zombies, sickly, snotty. headachey and exhausted. Hoping it goes soon!

It’s doing the rounds mine started with a sore throat , voice went , now I’ve got a rotten head cold & three cold sores around my mouth , I’m still feeling groggy a week later
I’m eating but don’t have any appetite can anyone recommend a good tonic please?

PeninsulaPanic · 14/12/2019 20:13

I've got a very headachey, phlegmy, depressing, exhausting virus that has affected my appetite for a few days and upset my stomach. I get little windows of energy then am shattered and miserable and sleeping for Britain during the day, but not so well at night. Every time I do sleep I wake up feeling knackered. Aches and pains but my head is the worst, even my teeth hurt. Been going on for over a week at least, I'm so fed up Sad

TheDuckSaysMoo · 14/12/2019 20:21

It's rife here and I needed a week off work. No appetite (I lost 9 pounds), no energy as a result, aches, fever, cough and sinusitis at the end. DS and several of his friends have had the same.

twolungs · 14/12/2019 23:47

Yes, I rarely get ill, maybe one cold a year and done in a few days. I came down really suddenly about ten days ago with a cold, sounded all Marge Simpson husky, ended up having to cancel all my do's last week and go total rest. Most of the cold symptoms have gone but I've got a constant headache, tire really easily, generally don't feel right in my gut. The GP said they have seen people with it for over a month. Last week I found myself googling chronic fatigue, what I did find that was helpful was the idea of energy neutral, energy minus and energy plus activities, so am trying to do more plus and neutral activities. For someone who never stops this is a good way of thinking about it to help the body recover.

twolungs · 14/12/2019 23:51

I'm going to try this flu fighter recipe.

girlofthenorth · 15/12/2019 09:06

I've had something , don't know wether it's viral or bacterial , but it's bloody awful ! Temps that won't go with antibiotics so think must be viral, so tired and tight chested, bit breathless. Not impressed as I need to get on with life !

I am someone who wizzes round doing loads and I do just need to calm down a bit I think...

Hope you start to feel better soon OP Thanks

twolungs · 15/12/2019 23:44

I can recommend the soup! Crossing fingers for not waking up with a headache tomorrow.

girlofthenorth · 21/12/2019 22:12

How is everyone doing ?
I'm over the worst but the fatigue is awful ! I'm starting to feel seriously reconditioned . @twolungs I will look at the recovery thing you mention for chronic fatigue .
Every twinge I'm thinking - is it coming back ?!?

girlofthenorth · 22/12/2019 08:30

*de - conditioned I mean !

Pinkblueberry · 22/12/2019 08:34

I work in a school - most of the staff had this kind of thing at some point and on one day we had nearly 30 children off with it. It’s definitely doing the rounds.

Juliette20 · 22/12/2019 08:39

I don't know what I had, but had a cough with a wheezy chest, as if I'd been smoking 20 a day. I've never had wheezing before! No nasal symptoms at all. Then some days I wasn't actually sick but felt queasy and anything I ate didn't go down well. All pretty mild compared to what some have had, and I generally felt well in myself and was ok to work.
