Anemic

So I was just wondering if anyone on here is anemic and what the symptoms were. I was diagnosed two years ago when I was pregnant with me son and finished the course. Soon after he was born and I completely stopped as there was a lot going on in my life and was feeling a little better but all of a sudden this year it's caught up on me and had to get another blood test for my new gp to trace back that I was anemic . I got the results back on Tuesday and I'm low but not severely low but need to wait until Monday to pick them up. In the main time I'm using my mums iron tablets to give me some sort of boost as I'm extremely tired and straining eyes and shooting pain like headaches. I don't really want to go back to the doctors as I think it's just due to my low iron but I feel drained ? I fly to South Africa in 3 weeks time for 3 weeks and hope these iron tablets kick in for then 😅

Is it normal to have headaches around the eyes and head.

Also to say I have a chest infection aswell so on amoxicillin so that won't be helping eitherHmm

I had low iron for months and didn't realise but I had so many weird symptoms. I was tired, breathless, headaches, felt faint, and had a strong aversion to bright light. I really felt so poorly and had no idea these were symptoms of anaemia. My doctor did say that over the counter iron supplements wouldn't raise my levels enough - it had to be prescription iron tablets and I started to feel much better quite quickly.

@ShadowKitty first of all I’m sorry you went through that because oh my god it’s awful like feel like it’s never going to go away but I’m pretty much the same as you and left it and left it thinking it would go away but it had gotten worse when I was just walking up the stairs and because I was breathless I would panick and get heart palpitations which are horrid and id freak out as I’ve got my son and would have to head over to my mums to get extra help as I was exhausted. Got my bloods taken on Monday there and I knew I was anemic anyways but they just had to prove I was. So Monday I will go and pick up my prescription and hopefully they work a treat as I’m feeling the worst I’ve felt in ages. I hope they kick in straight away . My mums ones haven’t really helped but then yet again I might need a stronger iron tablet so here is hoping! :) Thankyou so much for replying to my thread just knowing someone is going or has been through the same because you feel like a bag of poop and don’t know if it normal to feel that way or not x
