Low blood pressure

Making me feel awful, head fog dizziness, lightheaded, staggering sometimes like I've had a drink!! doctor says to just be careful getting up.
Had an op few days ago and my low blood pressure was mentioned a lot, normal for me but making me feel awful!
How do you cope if you have it?

I was suggested the same. Along with pressure socks and adding salt to my diet.

Tolleshunt · 06/12/2019 18:26

Awful, isn’t it? It can be quite disabling, yet drs are not in the slightest bit interested in treating it (they do in other countries if it causes symptoms). I find the best thing is to eat salt and drink lots.

Thanks for replies glad to know I'm not alone!
My heart going fast is another symptom feeling bad today particularly.
What are pressure socks? Never heard of them.
I was wondering why the nurse kept telling me to drink more water before they discharged me does it help raise your blood pressure then?

Yes, the pressure goes up because water and salt makes for greater blood volume.

Another thing that raises blood pressure is licorice, if you like that?

kissmelittleass · 06/12/2019 22:44

@Tolleshunt Thank you for explaining! I love liquorice but haven't had any in years must get some tomorrow.

Yvw. Licorice can be surprisingly hard to get hold of now, I don’t think it’s as popular as it once was. Mind you, you you can always find some licorice all sorts (but you’d prob have to eat a whole bag to get enough licorice in to take effect - not necessarily a a hardship, of course! Wink)

Pressure socks are those ones you wear on aeroplanes. Didn't do much for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

kissmelittleass · 11/12/2019 04:48

@coragreta thanks I didn't realise that's what aeroplane socks are called 😆
Been adding salt to my food which is something I never did but not making me feel any better so far.
It really is making me feel awful most of the time but the doctor doesn't want to know 😞
