Viral Pneumonia?

Has anyone had viral pneumonia? I had it a couple of years ago and the cough last a good 8 weeks and it was exhausting!! I had a cold about 10 days ago, that's cleared up but now I'm left with this wet hacking cough which I think is viral pneumonia again. I can't keep coughing like this for weeks, anyone got any tips for trying to get over it? Or will it just run its course? Docs gave me lots of antibiotics last time and they did nothing, hence the assumption in the end that it was viral.

All I know is pneumonia can linger, my mum is prone to it, and if it's bacterial might need two or three rounds of different antibiotics to get rid. I'm not sure what viral pneumonia is but in your position I'd want more and different antibiotics because it could just be bacterial and not yet eradicated. It can be a real bastard to shift.

I absolutely don't advocate the overuse of antibiotics but pneumonia is life threatening so please keep going back to go and get different antibiotics to ensure you are firing every gun at it.
