Wait it out or see GP?

Am not quite sure what to do - I have had a weird virus since Sunday and I know they can last quite a while but I feel like my symptoms have improved but I feel progressively more weak and unable to do stuff - is this the normal course or sign of something underlying?

Any advice?

I'm sorry you're feeling so awful. As long as you don't have a fever, are vomiting, etc, I would probably wait a few more days, but you need to do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

My husband and I both had a retched virus last March, and it put us on our arse for nearly a month. Completely exhausted, weak, no appetite. It was terrible so I know how you feel.

A GP will probably want you to wait 2 weeks to give your body time to get better after a virus. And a really bad bout of flu can knock you down for 6 weeks.
It's horrid being ill. Get tucked up with fluids and aim for plenty of rest.

Thanks for the replies - there are some grim things going round I just seem to have it worse and for longer than the rest of the household!

I think I am slightly panicked as we are moving on the weekend but I will just have to dose up and power through!

If you feel utterly weak and exhausted you should at least call 111 for advice. It's possible for flu to leave you with pneumonia.

If you can get a doctor to have a look at you, even just to listen to your chest. I guess you'll then get the usual advice of rest plenty of fluids paracetamol etc.

So I checked my temperature at 7 this morning and it was actually 41.5!!

GP reckoned chest infection/pneumonia so I feel slightly more justified in being stuck to the sofa!!

You had better remain stuck to the sofa for quite some time, as I hope the GP explained!

Yes that was very clear, as was to go back to OOH if I don't see improvement by Sunday but hopefully it won't come to that!
