DH is in hospital

He has had a terribly sore chest for the best part of a month. After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing to various specialists we found out today what the problem is.

Basically, tall thin men are at risk of a spontaneous (lung collapsing). The "cure" is a little more complicated than the average collapsed lung.

He is having surgery today - to remove the affected pleural lining (this may be the entire lining of his left lung). A stay in ICU tonight and perhaps tomorrow and a fair bit of pain.

My poor love. I have never heard of this before

Ah thank you all .

DH is ok today, still in ICU until tomorrow when the drain and other tubes will hopefully come out.

He is a real trouper. Let's just hope this is the end of our run of bad luck this year.

So pleased to hear that others have made a good recovery with no recurrence.

I hate sleeping at home on my own. Cape Town is such a dangerous place - I thought I heard a prowler outside last night and ended up calling the armed response unit out at 4.30am .

Grrr... roll on December and Australia.

Poor you, dejags

I hope that he is a little more comfortable now.

Pippo, my dh and dd have got marfan syndrome too! It caught my eye when dejags said about the "tall thin men" thing...
