What do people take for osteoarthritis pain. Rheumatologist consultant suggested vitamins chondroitin and vitamin d. I have started taking chondroitin with glucosamine (not had a months worth yet) but am suffering a lot with fingers/hand and knee pain.

Tramadol / codydramol / cocodamol plus diclofenac / naproxen / ibuprofen. But doctors are wary of prescribing opioids, so you may be started on NSAIDs (the second lot) plus they are anti-inflammatories, so often help more with that side too.

Tbh I tried chondroitin & vitamins to no avail. I try to avoid taking meds daily (which I used to do), but today, for example, I have had to take a combination as I'm in a lot of pain.

You could ask to be referred to a pain management clinic.

Good luck!

I take 10,000 IU vitamin D daily and it keeps my hands in pretty good shape and practically pain free. I really struggle if I stop taking it for too long.
