Dentist cost

Just been to my dentist and was charged £55 for a check up, scale and polish. It’s a good dentist but this seems a little extortionate. What do you pay? NhS or private. This was central London near my work. Wondering about trying to find somewhere cheaper, hygienist is £69. TIA

That’s normal.

£55 is higher than the NHS fee for a check up etc. If you’re a private patient, that seems normal. As does the £69 for a hygienist which will only be available as a private appointment.
