Can anyone help me figure out if I have sprained my wrist / have carpal tunnel syndrome or something else ... right hand right side (pinky side) pain some shooting some dull, struggling to grip things - not too bad but can take me by surprise sometimes like if I go to pull open a door or pick something heavy up. I can still type etc so not too bad. Some shooting pain up my arm. Bit of pins and needles. I can make a wrist can't squeeze tightly though. Don't want to go to docs if I can possibly help it. Only second day too.

Always seek advice from a medical professional.

Having said that, do you think your symptoms fit tendonitis? Did you overuse/repetitively strain your arm somehow? It takes a while to improve if that's the case.

I'm not sure. It's now pain in my wrist - can still do general things - but a strange sensation slightly like pins and needles all the way up my arm

Cubital tunnel rather than carpal tunnel? Carpal tunnel affects the thumb, cubital tunnel affects the ring and small fingers.

I have had both cubital and carpal tunnel in my left hand, it was treated with amitriptyline before I finally had to have surgery last year. The carpal tunnel is resolved since surgery but the cubital tunnel has recurred.

Sounds more like RSI to me.

You can get wrist splints from boots/pharmacists to wear that really help when mine are playing up. Probably about £20 (sorry, mine are veeeeerrrryyyy old now!).
They keep your wrists in the optimum position and help it improve.

I can't think of anything I do that regularly that could have caused it 🤔 @Deminism
Will have a look at wrist splints @jalopy
