It looks like a blister but it's hard. Not getting any bigger. There's one on her other little toe too. She's saying they really hurt. Been about a week.

What's this on dd's toe?

A corn? If so your dd needs better, wider shoes.

Crikey, I thought only old people got corns. I'll get some of those corn thingies from the chemist tomorrow. And a trip to the shoe shop at the weekend!

Sorry, I don't know how old your dd is, but if a corn definitely wrong shoes. Be aware if she has wide feet to get appropriate shoes not only does she get corns, but her toes will be pushed into each other (if that makes sense).

I'm a podiatrist. I don't think it's a corn - though children can get them. If it were a corn, the skin would be hard with a central core. Looks a bit like a chilblain. Has the weather been cold where you live? Well fitting shoes will help, space round the toes, no squeezing from footwear, warm socks etc.

obviously bow to podiatrist's view, but as a general point, female's shoes are often too tight, bad shape causing foot damage distortion. even worse with still growing feet.get her to try on shoes from the boys section, may be a better fit.
just as an aside anyone else thought we're not much different to days of Chinese foot-binding for females, confine their feet tightly, less able to run away/ fight/ defend themselves, on the grounds it looks prettier, more feminine, dainty, more decorative, less useful, to the wearer. male shoes are chosen on their comfort usefulness to wearer. female on notions of how they look, wearer's welfare is secondary. females value in how other perceive approve them.
ho hum. just a thought. don't all shout at me.

Thanks a. I wast convinced it was a corn but got some compeed corn plasters, and chucked out the shoes! New shoes and corn plasters sorted her out.
