It feels like my heart is beating faster it's been like it since last night
Should I ring the doctors?
I guess it could be anxiety or not but I don't know this has never happened before

Yes its probably anxiety. Are you stressed?
Good idea to tell your doctor anyway op.

purpleme12 · 25/11/2019 08:00

The fact that's it's happening is making me nervous if you know what I mean

Can it be anxiety if it's happened since last night?

What do you think it is OP?

purpleme12 · 25/11/2019 08:16

I don't know it's never happened before. I looked it up and one of the possibilities is anxiety which is why I'm kind of wondering about that. And I guess that would be preferable to something more serious maybe!

No appointments today. Couldn't get through early enough to get one

The fact that's it's happening is making me nervous

And if it is anxiety then the fact that it is making you nervous will make your heart beat faster, which will make you more nervous, which will make your heart beat faster again....

Can you check your pulse?

How old are you? Any other health info that might be relevant?

sashh · 25/11/2019 08:59

How many beats per minute?

Lots of things increase HR.

Exercise
Anxiety
Caffeine
digesting food
heat

purpleme12 · 25/11/2019 09:00

Mid 30. I've got no clue about pulse so wouldn't know how or what is right.
Yes that is what worries me (!) That it might be a cycle anyway cos I feel nervous because of it. I don't know but I do know things like this can make me nervous. ?!
No other problems really

But going to the doctors also makes me nervous!

Get a watch with a second hand.

Find a pulse on your wrist or neck, count the pulses while the watch ticks round for 15 seconds then multiply this by 4.

A normal heart rate is 60 - 100 beats per minute AT REST, your heart rate fluctuates a lot in response to you moving, eating, smoking, if you have a fever.

There are free apps you can get for your phone to measure your heart beat. They’re really easy to use - you just put you finger over the camera for about 30 seconds.

Oldmum55 · 25/11/2019 10:19

Are you on any medications? Have you changed medication recently? Sorry if these are obvious questions but that's what happened to me.

purpleme12 · 28/11/2019 10:26

Thanks everyone

Managed to get through to doctors yesterday who said it wouldn't be classed as an emergency (presumably cos this is my only symptom). So to come in today to take my blood pressure as last time it was quite high. (But I get nervous at doctors)

I did feel better yesterday evening and in the night and this morning. More relaxed and couldn't feel my heart so much. So down to anxiety?? Then started getting nervous this morning cos I knew I was going to the doctors

Came in today to the nurse who took it and it was high again. So they recommended me either having their 24 hour monitor or buying my own.
But the nurse did think it could well be down to me being nervous at the doctor's but they want to check
