When did your periods return?

Hi my DD is 6 months old this week and I must admit I’m already becoming broody for a second.

I won’t be trying for some time but in any case I’ve been exclusively BFing until now and haven’t had a period.

I’ll be going down to one bf only a day until she is 9 months, with food and formula for the rest of the time.

For anyone willing to tell me, I was just wondering:

  1. When did your periods return after your DC
  2. When did you start TTC number 2

I’d like my periods back and my body back to normal for at least a few months before TTC number 2

Thanks!

Sorry I thought this was a postnatal thread not for depression - I’ll get this moved.

  1. 6 weeks after DS was born
  2. Started trying for baby no.2 a couple of months ago (DS is now 2.5)

I exclusively breastfed DS for 6 months and I was looking forward to the possibility of not having periods for a while. Body had other ideas Hmm

My periods came back a month after the birth of both of my children and I was EBF. I got pregnant with my daughter when my son was 15 months.

My periods came back after 3 years.

AgnesGrundy · 13/11/2019 16:33

I breastfed til approximately a year with each child (almost exactly with dc1, 11 months dc2, 14 months dc3).

I've never had a period while breastfeeding even once they were on solids but that's not necessarily typical.

Dc2 was conceived 3 months after I stopped breastfeeding Dc1. Periods came back quite soon after stopping, not sure exactly but I had 2 periods in between. I didn't ttc straight after stopping bf dc2 so only have one relevant ttc / breastfeeding

I got periods back after 18 months post part I’m, then started ttc at 20 months. Was pregnant with ds 4 months later( we didn’t try very hard, my libido has taken a dive).

BlackInk · 14/11/2019 13:57

My periods came back, with regular cycles, around 3 months post partum with both DC. I was EBF. I continued to BF alongside solids until babies were about 2 years old. I became pregnant (not trying, not preventing) when DC1 was just under a year old, but miscarried. Started actively TTC after this and DC2 was born when DC1 was 2 and a half.

Don't forget that you can get pregnant even before periods return.

I EBF for 6 months and stopped altogether at 18 months (was down to bedtime only). Period came back at 6 months. Started TTC number 2 just before DD turned 2 and 11 months on we're still trying

Singsongbird · 14/11/2019 14:13

When I stopped breastfeeding at 9mth (DC1), 20mth (DC2) & 2 years (DC3)

Mummyofbananas · 14/11/2019 14:52

Just after a year all three times l, came back while I was still bf x

itshappened · 14/11/2019 15:01

A month after I stopped breast feeding, so 7 months after giving birth.

NaToth · 14/11/2019 22:45

Bang on four weeks with both my EBF babies. Dang!

DramaAlpaca · 14/11/2019 22:50

Mine came back when DC1 was 4 months & still ebf. I was pregnant with DC2 three months later, first time of trying. which was a bit of a surprise as it had taken almost a year to conceive DC1.

I've learned from threads on here that there's a very wide range of normal on this.

Circa 2 years with both, bf first 2y4m, second 2y
