Any tips for abscess wound packing pain??

I had surgery to drain an apacking in my breast. The nurse had to redress the outer dressing today and merely brushed her finger over the packing and I was screaming in pain!

For the next week or so I have to have the packing changed daily. I am dreading it!! Can anyone recommend anything to make it more bearable?

I only have paracetamol and ibuprofen as pain relief to hand.

Will the nurse be understanding? What are your experiences?

I would ask for more pain relief tbh. I've dressed a fair few wounds in my time and would always dose patients up an hour before. I'm
Not big on pill popping but this is exactly what they were designed for.

I will speak to the nurse when I arrive tomorrow. I will try and time it so that I take my ibuprofen to kick in when I am there.
