Anyone seen chickenpox start on lower legs?

DS(2) has been under the weather today. Bit snotty, bit of a cough, but mainly just quiet and has lost his appetite. After his bath, we noticed he had red spots on his lower legs. Could this be chickenpox? I thought it normally started on chest or back, but otherwise it seems like it could be...

Could also be start of hand foot and mouth

Hand foot and mouth often starts on lower limbs. It looks like small red spots (smaller than chicken pox).

Of course! I hadn't thought of that. DS1 had it when he was little and it was horrible - I hope it's neither Sad

Do the spots blanch?
If not, it might be ITP - classic position for rash to start and it often follows a viral illness.
