Since Saturday. Started as a heavy, heady cold and has now moved to the throat and chest area with awful chest cough. Feels like I could blow my nose over and over. But when I try nothng seems to come down!!!

I've got a horrific sore throat and am very achey. Think it's probably been building for a few days, but the throat pain started this morning. Feels like a thick dry lump at the back of my mouth, hard to swallow and increasing urge to yack up phlegm. Nice.

Tired, breathing not great, hurts to talk but not much of a cough. (Sure it can't be far off though.) And like you, feel like I need to blow my nose but it's not hugely productive. Got a long day of visiting old friends with my sister and her kids tomorrow and much as I love them I'm not sure I'll hack it 🤒

How you feeling today @treedragon?

PeninsulaPanic · 03/11/2019 09:17

Got through yesterday but by late afternoon my throat felt really painful and rough again and my voice pretty much gone. I was shattered too. Woke up in the night with thick phlegm at the back of my throat, couldn't sleep. This morning my voice is still missing pretty much and when I cough (dry) it sounds about three octaves lower than usual! Not fun, staying in today.

Hopefully you've recovered by now @treedragon

PeninsulaPanic · 05/11/2019 08:06

Using this thread to track my symptoms, since no-one else is posting! Grin

Haven't been out for 2 days and today might well turn into the third. Throat now not nearly as sore as it was, but still struggling to speak in an unbroken voice and regularly coughing up thick, discoloured phlegm. Nose not dripping as such but still need to blow it a lot, and the cough has become persistent. It feels dry and sounds a bit raw. Short of breath at times and a bit anxious and weepy. Generally feeling tired and fed up and achey. I look pretty rough. Have had a bit of intestinal pain on the lower right side, and a disconcerting sensation of there being a little ball of regurgitated food in my esophagus - like when you throw up in your mouth a bit, except I'm not, it's just sitting there. Very odd Hmm

Sorry, three gross posts in a row! I'm struggling with this, live on my own and want to be able to get out to the shops at least but I have a feeling I won't make it over the doorstep again today. Thankfully I'm not desperate for anything in particular but tomorrow I'll really need to re-stock some stuff.

Thinking about it, this might be related to the muscle pain in my chest/intercostal ribs over the last few weeks. I just assumed it was costochondritis coz I've had that before, but it might've been a painful prelude to this virus.

Blah blah blah cough splutter croak

PeninsulaPanic · 06/11/2019 23:23

Felt quite a bit better this morning so sat with my niece and nephew for an hour before taking them to school, then did some grocery shopping and even some cleaning in the kitchen! But lo and behold, by lunchtime I was exhausted and have felt very fluey again since. My cough hurts, my head hurts, my energy level is on the floor and it's just depressing. Still got phlegm and my nose is quite stuffy, then occasionally my sinuses start squeaking. Eyes tired and sore. I get a hot, burny feeling at the back of my throat when I cough, and sometimes just through breathing.

Not fun. I'm so over this crap! (Except I'm not, obvs...)

treedragon · 07/11/2019 08:52

Hi!

Sorry for silence. Cough is still horrid. If I laugh it becomes a chesty coughing fit. When I breathe it feels like I need to cough to breathe out.

PeninsulaPanic · 07/11/2019 20:04

How are your energy levels and overall feeling of wellbeing? This has wiped me out. Heard from a friend today whose husband never takes a day off work, but took one this week because of this virus!

Today I've been exhausted again, depressed, productive cough but not coughing as much, and throat not so sore anymore (although my voice is still dodgy). But the headache Confused My teeth are aching too. Hope this doesn't drag on like some viruses I've had in the last few years.

HotSauceCommittee · 07/11/2019 20:08

I’m on my second day off sick with a cold! Just a cold! I am knackered, bored, but too ill to do anything. Thankfully, the agonising sore throat has abated.
Get well soon, fellow plague censors. Stay away from other people.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/11/2019 23:07

I had this at the beginning of September, was off work for almost a week, and have never really felt 100% since. I feel like I might be getting a fresh dose now. Yuck. Feel better soon, poorly people!

PeninsulaPanic · 08/11/2019 12:19

Thanks HotSauce and Judy, felt well enough to take a bath and come out again this morning, but am aware of pacing myself even so. Yesterday was horrid, felt very fluey all day and woke up with a panic attack after 1am and was then up for a few hours. Fingers crossed I'm turning a corner, got a social event tomorrow that I can't miss because I'm the ticket holder and also putting a friend up afterwards. But could do without it if I'm honest.

How are you all doing today? Have you gone back to work HotSauce? Wishing you all better Flowers

PeninsulaPanic · 08/11/2019 21:06

Quick update, in case it's useful to anyone still suffering. After my post earlier I went for a 2 mile walk and did some shopping, then walked a couple of bus stops with my heavy bags because of road works and the buses not stopping at my usual stop. Had a sleep this afternoon and this evening am feeling better than I've felt for at least a week. A bit superstitious about saying I'm over this, and it has been bloody intense, but right now I don't feel like it's there anymore, apart from still a bit phlegmy. But I can live with that! Grin

HotSauceCommittee · 10/11/2019 08:47

I’m lots better, thanks PeninsulaPanic. I’ll be back to work tomorrow. I’m still feeling drained and a bit low to be honest. This time at home has made me rethink my job and my ambitions and I feel like I can’t be arsed anymore and I need a change...when I get the energy.
I will definitely be inviting the husband on a walk today.

AlexaAmbidextra · 10/11/2019 22:57

Just started with a scratchy throat this morning and now feeling hot and achy and keep sneezing. Pissed off as have major dental work planned for Thursday which I wanted done and dusted this month. Dentist isn’t going to carry out phase one of my implant with bugs floating around, nor would I want him to. ☹️🤧

treedragon · 11/11/2019 10:41

It feels like it’s leaving me now but feel tired and achy. The cough is awful still. Like everything is inflamed and random bouts of feeling like there’s something stuck.

I've had an awful time with something, that started off as a crippling headache on Wednesday.

I took Syndol and went to a works lecture day - recording everything on a Dictaphone and using the camera on my phone for complicated PowerPoint slides.

I've been afflicted since then.

No cough, no sneezing, no loss of voice to accompany the very sore throat - just shivering, aching and some vomiting.

I've spoken to my boss this morning and I've told him I'm going in tomorrow.

I've got some bits and pottering to do round the house, but I'm not sure how effective I'll be tomorrow.

AlexaAmbidextra · 11/11/2019 11:42

Horrible disturbed night and now a throat that feels like I’m swallowing razor blades. Ugh.

PeninsulaPanic · 11/11/2019 13:26

After my optimistic post on Friday evening I had a dodgy weekend, various signs that the virus hadn't passed - headache, toothache, hot dry cough, slight runny nose, plenty of phlegm, and tiredness. Slept twice during the day on Saturday because I knew I wouldn't be able to cope with going out in the evening otherwise. Managed the theatre trip and staying up very late with visiting friend, but paid for it with a rough, achey day yesterday. Did very little. Was up early this morning and not feeling too bad. Feels like it's really calming down, but then again I thought that on Friday and it clobbered me the next day Hmm

Delatron · 11/11/2019 15:23

Unfortunately I had the same thing. Felt good for a few days then overdid it and felt awful and ill again. Even after feeling well for three days. It seems to keep coming back.

Cucuclown99999 · 11/11/2019 18:49

I thought it was a virus since it started out as a horrible sore throat. Then it just went to one side of my throat then two days ago I couldn’t open my mouth anymore. Now I’m A&E waiting to get intravenous antibiotics to see if it will help. ENT has no idea what’s happening Sad

PeninsulaPanic · 11/11/2019 19:28

@Cucuclown99999 that sounds very distressing Flowers Hope you're feeling well-looked after there and they can begin to turn things around for you. My first real symptom was the throat thing and it was intense for three or four days. I think my antidepressants helped me not to panic, and rest a lot, otherwise I can imagine it would've got infected, it was so painful and scary. You rest up and let them look after you.

Cucuclown99999 · 11/11/2019 19:39

Thank you. I had a small panic attack on my own here in A&E.
calmed myself down though. I hate all this. I just want to go home.

PeninsulaPanic · 11/11/2019 20:20

Anything you can do to make it easier on your anxiety while you're there? I search YouTube for windchimes or meditation music. Have you got headphones/earphones with you? Two of my favourites are 'garden of serenity' and 'temple in the forest', they make me feel safe. Hope they patch you up and send you home very soon.

PeninsulaPanic · 11/11/2019 20:24

Couldn't find garden of serenity (maybe they took the link down) but this is very similar:

And this is temple in the forest :

Cucuclown99999 · 12/11/2019 00:35

Thank you so much. I’ll listen to them. Luckily I have my headphones.

PeninsulaPanic · 12/11/2019 08:04

How are things this morning @Cucuclown99999 ? Did they let you go home yet? Hopefully they've helped you in some way and you're feeling better than you were last night Flowers

Cucuclown99999 · 12/11/2019 10:18

PeninsulaPanic
Thank you so much for the link. Even though the ward was so busy and loud. This helped me to block it out.
I feel a lot better this morning and less anxious. I’m hoping to go home soon.
Smile thank you for caring. Flowers
