Chronic Kidney Disease

I have just found out I have CKD. My GFR reading was 32 so very poor ( I am 58).

My GP made it clear I must loose weight and do more exercise and I am working on this, but us there anything else I can do? Drink more or less?
I know kidneys do not regenerate in the same way as the liver so is the best I can do to ( try to) halt their decline?

I'm going back to the GP in 2 weeks after more blood tests but I am anxious to do the right things in the meantime. Any advice from anyone else in this situation much appreciated as I am really worried.

I too have CKD (Stage 3a). My eGFR was 52 at worst, but recently has nee in the 60s..even up to 67. The only thing I do is drink water, especially just before a blood test.

I was really panicked when I was first diagnosed(18 months ago) but am a little calmer about it now. I'm tested every 4 months at present.

FuzzyPuffing. Thank you. I'll definitely drink more water now and immediately before my next test. It's reassuring to know that your results do fluctuate and but just get worse!

I try to drink water as much as I can (as long as I am not away from a handy loo any time soon after!)
Good luck!

Oh and try not to do any vigorous exercise just beforehand as that rises creatinine levels which is what they measure eGFR by.
