This is the second time this has happened to my grandmother. The first time she had lung cancer but didn't know it because the x-ray department sent them to the GP's husband that worked in a totally different clinic. Grandmother received someone else's clear x-rays, so went on holiday and got progressively worse... Went back for moee x-rays, turns out she did have cancer all along, and someone else had received her first x-rays (imagine how they felt!)...
Anyway she has been clear for about ten years now after having half her lung removed.
She has been really suffering with her breathing lately and out of breath... Gone back for x-rays. She has just been chasing the results up and guess fucking what!? The x-rays have yet again been sent to a GP counties away... Only difference is this time she hasn't received someone else's. So there hasn't been a swap, just an error. No return from the wrong GP.
Did the GP just ignore the wrong x-rays, why wouldn't they send them back to the x-ray department saying they don't have my grandma as a patient. Last time this happened she could have died from the progression of the cancer as it took months for the mistake to be realised. Thankfully this time its been flagged up by my nan chasing it up, but the disorganisation is terrifying. Losing results, sending them to the wrong place, getting patients confused.
I don't really have a question, I'm just angry and need to rant!
