Hello

Last Friday I had the cortisone injection after 7 years of suffering with De Quervain, I'm in excruciating pain, I don't understand why, was in the downstairs bathroom Friday crying my eyes out due the amount of pain I was in.

Have contacted the orthopaedic department but I'm hoping not to have another cortisone injection due excruciating pain it left me in

Anyone had this before?
Anyone had surgery? What was it like after?

Thanks x

Hi, I too suffered with this. Like you I had a steroid injection and it was agony. Went back to see the surgeon who was great and said as the injection had made the pain worse she would operate. I had the operation 2 years ago and I’m pleased to say it worked! Took a couple of weeks to heal but had no further pain/problems.

Try some gentle exercises in the mean time before going back to the surgeon. Thumb in an enclosed fist and stretch towards the floor.. Or use a small weight into flexion and extention of the wrist. It's sound like chronic/degenerative tendiopathy and will most likely need surgery if the injections aren't helping. Hope you feel better.

Thank you

Have got an appointment on Wednesday & hopefully won't have another cortisone injection as it didn't worse and made it worse, left me in tears for days.
I have been told to ice it 5-6 times a day which I will do

Thank you everyone x
