Upper back pain when swallowing

For the past week (well since I've noticed) I've been experiencing sharp pain on top right of my back near the bottom of the shoulder blade when I swallow. I can actually feel the food or drink going down, and even when I swallow saliva I can feel the motion of the liquid moving down.

Not sure if related, but on Tuesday last week, when this all started, I suddenly experienced severe upper back pain. It came on suddenly and I was stretching and moving about trying to ease out the tension feeling whilst at work.

I have also had pain under my armpits, arms and upper back all coming on at the same time. I thought I had slept awkwardly.

I have also had a lot of gas and have used antacids, and senocalm but nothing seems to work. Burping doesn't ease anything. The pain and sensation only occurs when swallowing.

Has anyone had similar or can hazard a guess what's going on? Earliest appointment is this wednesday when i made the booking last Thursday.

My hazarded guess would be gallbladder related. My second hazarded guess would be you've pulled something

I’ve had this before and omeprazole has taken it away. For me it was like I had burnt my esophagus or something. The gp said he thought it was spasms in my esophagus. I know you mentioned antacids but just wondering if you have tried a prescribed ppi like omeprazole etc?

Gallstones or acid reflux.

Or both in my case.

It's great fun, go to court gp.

Could be stress

Does it feel like someone is literally stabbing you in the back when you take a sharp intake of breath?

Hi, did you find out what was the issue? I am having the same problem.

Please push for an endoscopy referral. Likely just reflux but def worth checking out
