Musky vagina smell

Hi, I'm having a bit of an issue at the moment and wondering how common it might actually be and what to do about it. Literally every day from mid-morning onwards (having had a shower first thing when I wake up), I can smell my own vagina quite strongly, just sitting down at work or whatever. It's not a bad smell as such, but it's very, very musky, and whenever I cross or uncross my legs for example I get a wave of it. Not sure if others can smell... hopefully not. I don't know if this is normal or what is causing it? I thought it may stem from wearing too tight clothes or the wrong sort of knickers or something, but then it also happens when I'm wearing a dress/skirt and tights so I don't know. It's been like this for a while, nothing new, also not related to where I am in my cycle I don't think. Does anyone else have this, and does anybody have any tips??

I'd go to the doctor tbh!

It might be worth asking your nurse at the GP surgery to swab for bacterial vaginosis.

Unless it's unpleasant it's not likely to be an infection. You don't say how old you are, perhaps near the peri menopause/menopause? Try not to wear tight trousers, or even trousers, go for skirts, definitely no tights, and cotton underwear should all help.

If you said it was a bad smell I'd think BV as I've had that and omg the smell was horrendous. But from what you've said I'm not sure. Sorry not much help!

I get this sometimes... I’m convinced it’s my pubes Blush

Also had BV and the smell is vile! Theres usually a sweet musky smell to vagina but if you notice its stronger or more prominent may be worth getting checked out. Change in hormones or different points of your cycle could be cause also.

Vaginosis is my bet too. Nothing sexually transmitted but it happens and a quick course of antibiotics will sort it out. I had it once, thought there was a strange smell and as luck would have it (although not for the gynecologist I saw) I had a smear test when it happened. The poor doctor nearly fainted with the smelll and quickly diagnosed it, gave me a prescription for antibiotics and I haven't been bothered with it since.
