Costochondritis HELP!

mollymoo88 · 09/10/2019 18:36

Hi.

So randomly after suffering stomach flu, I have diagnosed with costochondritis. This came on during my time being ill. I have never heard of this before or had it!

I have had a chest x-ray, bloods and all came back negative.

I cannot take ibuprofen as I am on lansoprazole for acid reflux ( I'm not too sure if they think it's an ulcer or literally acid reflux causing this either) the doctor is very vague about it all and I'm not too impressed.

I am two weeks in, feeling very low and at my wits end! I guess you could say I'm feeling quite anxious to be honest. I have come across many stories whereby people have suffered for a long time. My doctor told me up to 6 weeks, maybe a bit more to heal- yet I am unable to find one positive post whereby this has happened!

I would really like some reassurance and any positive stories if there are any...

Thank you

Molly

I was going to suggest ibruprofen! sorry not much help but you have my sympathy as I've had it and it does take ages to clear up but it will.

Hi oP. I've had it and it's absolutely awful. I went into GP thinking I was having heart issues (apparently common misdiagnosis is heart attack if going by symptoms alone).

I had it severely for 3 weeks then it did ease off. I've only had a recurrence once when I had a chest infection and was coughing loads.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yep. Had that. Painful but it went away eventually

Not a lot you can do except paracetamol and warm baths.

Sympathies
