How to do I get hold of a copy of labour notes?

Not sure if this is the right topic to post under. But does anyone know how I do this? I want to know what went on with DD's heart trace as I know there were strong dips towards the end of labour and now she has serious health problems. Thanks.

contact your midwife, she'll get them for you. i have mine.

Ring up the records dept at the hospital you gave birth at, i think you have to pay for them but you are legaly entitled to a copy. Then you can take it along to your dr to ask any questions about it you may have.

im pretty sure you write to the hospital asking for copies and they have to give them to you. how old is dd?

massivebigpantsface · 14/08/2007 08:05

sorry to hear about dd, given the situation I would also ask for a debrief from your midwife.

i didn't have to pay for mine. i asked for a debrief after suffering ptsd for 3months. the supervisor of midwives and another mw came round to talk me through my labour and they asked if i wanted copies which they sent afterwards along with a summary of the meeting.

Thanks. DD is 7 months old now. I have raised concerns with the hopsital about my care just before her birth and they've fobbed me off, told me nothing should have been done differently. I've strong suspicions I should have had a caesarian though. Just think if I could see the records I'd know for sure. I know everyone was worried and saying she had to be got out asap, just before her birth, but I was in too much pain to take in much.
