Just had an email from a friend who I saw last Monday and Tuesday (and her kids). Apparently her youngest came out with chickenpox on Sunday......DS1 and 2 have had it - but DS3 hasn't.......

The incubation period is 10-20 days.

so does that mean that her DS was infectious for 10-20 days before the spots came out??

1 or 2 before spots at most . He will have been incubating it for longer but not been conatgious iyswim. ds3 will not have been infected.

Infectious 2 days before spots come out, and until spots crust over.

[[http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/chickenpox.htm check this out - says infectious for the three days before spots come out until they have scabbed]
