Brown Discharge/bleeding after smear

I'm on cerazette pill for the last 5 years and don't usually get periods, once in a while I'll get some brown spotting and few pms symptoms that go after a couple of days. I have a smear test every year for the last 8 years since I had an abnormal one that required a biopsy, each one since then has been normal.
I had a smear test last Thursday morning. On Friday I started with brown discharge, each day that's passed (4 days) it's got slightly heavier to the point its now spotty rather than discharge if that makes sense.
Is this normal? I don't remember it ever happening before, could it just be coincidence or should I inform gp/nurse? Everything I can see on Google suggests light bleeding within the first 24hrs of a smear is normal but mine didn't start til 24hrs after.

It happened to me a few times. It was fine each time. I think it depends on how they do it, time in the cycle etc...

It's possible as well that you could have Ectropian sp? (used to be called cervical erosion) which can and does make you spot but is otherwise harmless. Particularly after being examined, having smears, sex etc..

After I had mine done in august the nurse told me to expect some brown discharge/spotting x

Thanks everyone that has reassured me. And of course today after my post it has went from spotting back to brown discharge again so possibly lightening up again.

Sorry to ressurect this but it's been 2 weeks today since my smear test and about 3 or 4 days ago I started with pink discharge again, it's mostly in the mornings after I first use the loo, as the day goes on it lightens or stops altogether until the next day again. I haven't missed any pills and never do. This has definitely never happened before after a smear test, I still haven't had the results yet of course.

Should I call the doctor or just wait and see?

Hi Emmylou, try not to worry as literally nothing ever came of this. The smear came back as normal and the discharge n spotting eventually stopped and nothing negative ever happened. It was just coincidence/fluke and I was worrying for no reason.
