What contraception(apart from condoms) when no period?

Hi
I stopped breastfeeding over a month ago and I still havent had a period(lo is now 8 months). Would love to go back on the pill or use Nuvaring but they both say to start using on the first day of your period. Where is my period? (I'm not pregnant again-I checked that). My dp is v happy(=relieved) that I'm showing a renewed interest in for the first time since I got pregnant Feb 2006 but we both hate condoms...v frustrating. What else is on offer???
Thanks

You can start the pill on any day as long as you are 100% sure you are not pregnant. I would advise waiting at least 2 weeks after your last episode of sex and doing a pregnancy test, then if negative (and you haven't had sex since) then you can start the pill. If you don't want to go 2 weeks without sex you can start straight away as long as you are 100% sure you can't be pregnant.

Umm I don't think you have to wait to get a period to go back on the pill. You can also go to the doctors and they can give you something to induce one..... well you used to be able to anyway.

what about the cap, a bit ignoring that you have to go and put it in, but neither of you can feel it when it in

Thanks for all the replies-I couldnt reply last night as I had a computer meltdown(both pc and laptop broke down!) but have started to take the pill and will wait a week before we rely on it.
Thanks again!

And I now I get my period? Strange. I've only had one pill. Maybe it just needed a jumpstart.
