Is it possible to cause kidney damage by over-feeding on milk?

My friends ds was 5 1/2 weeks old, taking 8oz every 2 hours throughout the day but sleeping for 12 hours at night. Her hv advised her that this volume of milk would cause permanent kidney damage and that she should start weaning. As a result, her 8 week old is now on 2 solid meals a day. I was horrified, surely this advice is crazy?

that is rubbish

She's more likely to cause kidney damage by weaning this early.

Her HV is insane

Omg, horrendous advice and a complaint should be made if this is true!

Thanks for that, I just wanted to be sure. How do you go about reporting a hv?

She really should make a complaint - this volume of milk isn't unusual by a long way in a baby this age - especially one sleeping that long at night. This HV is probably giving this "advice" to lots of women
