Red line spreading up arm= phlebitis. He needs antibiotics. See doctor. ( I'm a nurse).

Just had same problem. Agree needs antibiotics from doctor (I am in 7-day course).

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/09/2019 18:17

It's definitely infected but the red line is lymphangitis, not phlebitis. Means the infection is spreading through the lymph vessels.

He needs to be seen asap. Don't wait until tomorrow.

Yep, an infection in the tissue is tracking up his arm. Urgent care centre or A&E this evening

minesagin37 · 23/09/2019 18:19

@BoreOfWhabylon yes seems to be more extensive. Either way though- doc.

Just started antibiotics myself for cellulitis from a spider bite on my leg. That's what his arm looks like to me

Thanks everyone!

He was given antibiotics. The Dr said its a tissue infection
