Anaemia

I feel a complete mess at the moment. I'm never usually ill.

I found out earlier this week I'm anaemic. My iron levels are 2. This evening my whole body feels like it has the flu, I can't stand up without my husband helping me and I've fainted twice this week. And had 3 heavy nose bleeds- never had a nose bleed before.

My GP has prescribed iron tablets (memory blank on the name). But I feel as though I need a quicker source of action going by todays feeling awful and fainting. I hate asking for things- can I ask for an iron infusion after only bring prescribed the tablets? I'm sitting here with heart palpitations and seeing black at the end of my heart fluttering 🙄

Anyone else suffered the bad end of anaemia?

Hi, I was were you are earlier this year. I had been taking a general multi vitamin and mineral tablet for years so stupidly thought I had my iron covered. Long story short, prescription iron didn't make me feel any different, I was only a few weeks in but then came across a heme iron supplement. It's available on Amazon, Optifer f, I take 2 a day. It's the kind of iron that your body absorbs well, with about 50% absorption instead of 5 %. Literally changed my life, I have a toddler and felt like I wanted to die, I was that weak and tired.

Honestly I would be very worried and dont think that safe at all I would go to hospital with the symptoms you are having. I'm anaemic but never been that low and the symptoms you are having sound very serious

Mine have been at 4 before and the tablets did help. I had to take x 3 per day so quite a high dose. Take them with orange juice to help absorption.
