Soft tissue damage?

After a recent fall, I have been suffering with very painful wrist/thumb.

Xray shows no break, but the pain is driving me crazy. Two weeks in and it's no better. Having difficulty with every day tasks as it's my dominant hand.

Dr said if no better in four weeks to get referred back to orthopaedics, as a possible scaphoid fracture may not show on the xray.

If it consistently hurts to this level of pain, is it possible that it is soft tissue damage? Don't want to go back to hospital if I haven't give it enough time to repair, equally don't want to be suffering if I don't have to be.

Anyone know about these things?

If it’s that bad go back now and get it rechecked
