I wondered if it was panic attacks but I don't have any of the other symptoms. I'm experiencing this tightness at the top centre of my chest and it's very hard to describe. Had it for 3 days now. Has anyone any experience of this?

anorak,

Tight feeling in your chest is not a light a matter. It could be anxiety disorder but it could be much more serious. Honey, go to the doctor right away. They can put you on fancy machines and by the time you leave they will know if it is heart disease or a panic attack.

GO NOW!!!!!

cardiac pain can also be felt in the throat, don't want to panic you but please don't ignore it.You should see someone today about it.

Cappuccino · 10/08/2007 10:19

the other day didn't you start a thread about how dreadful you were feeling emotionally?

I wonder if you have been holding yourself very tense

I can't see how it can be unrelated

can you get out for a swim/ massage/ sleep?

anorak · 10/08/2007 10:19

But I don't really feel ill! Surely it can't be that serious! It def feels like something to do with my respiratory passages rather than my heart, honest.

does the pain get worse when you take a deep breath?

anorak · 10/08/2007 10:21

Yes, Capp. I feel it's something to do with stress, my heart is fine, my blood pressure is always low, I haven't eaten meat for 25 years, no one in my family has ever had any kind of heart problem.

anorak · 10/08/2007 10:21

No, ggirl, it doesn't.

I used to get a pressing on my chest if I woke up in the night when dd1 was little I think that was stressed

currently when stressed the edges of my jaw ache

I think you need to be kind to yourself

brimfull · 10/08/2007 10:23

Could very well be stress then.

anorak · 10/08/2007 10:24

If it's just plain old stress then at least I know how to handle it. I did feel a little better the other day after having a day of crying pathetically and then talking to my DH.

I am taking my kids out for the day, have to leave in 5 mins, have taken Kalms and St Johns Wort to try and relax my body and give it a break from this.

have a nice day ,hope you feel better soon.

anorak · 10/08/2007 10:29

Thank you all for your replies. If I keel over I'll ask my DH to post and tell you

Have a nice day all of you too!

anorak,

Panic Attack Symptoms

Symptoms of a Cardiac Arrest

If I were your family I would be dragging your butt to the doctor. But since that is not an option, at least read these articles and see if the symptoms sound familar. They can help you make and educated decision.

Good Luck!!!

I get this - it is related to stress and I seem to get it in bed (even though I don't feel stressed). It is annoying. You feel as though you want to take a breath in until your lungs are full to bursting IYKWIM.

I had an ECG when I was about 19 to check out my heart but it was normal.

anorak · 11/08/2007 08:48

Hello

Thank you all for your comments. I think I know what is wrong now. Overnight I have developed a ragged throat and slight soreness. So I think I had a long-drawn out beginning to an upper respiratory or throat infection.

Not very nice but not too serious anyway.

Thanks again.

24 hours later I can confidently confirm a throat infection - without a graphic description I have the unmistakeable symptoms now! Thank you for all your concern but I think I'm going to live. Just wanted to put your minds at rest!
