Does this happen to anyone else?!

I cut my finger while making breakfast this morning. Not A&E serious but a nasty gash that has taken work to stop bleeding. Finger now sore and heavily wrapped. Such is life!

My question is about what happens after I hurt my fingers. Within minutes, whether it's a cut or bruise, I am overcome with nausea and hot sweats. I feel incredibly ill and often have to lay down to get my breathing under control. Feel very faint.

I'm ok with blood. I'm ok with cuts. Had lots of things happen and i cope. But fingers? Fingers hurting does something to my brain!

I have spent the whole day feeling on and off nauseous and ill because every time I think about it, it sets me off.

What possible reason does my brain have to react in this way? Am I the only one? It's bloody annoying!

I'm fine with blood and an a first aider! Can deal with my own blood etc.

I've seriously cut my finger and taken the end of y tie off over the last year alongside other cuts etc.

But I reacted the same with finger and toe and it wasn't something I could control or was a conscious reaction.

Maybe it's something to do with the nerve signals there or that it's the extremities?

That's a vasovagal reaction!

I think you can improve the response, but I'm not sure how. Someone with actual knowledge and experience might be able to tell you.

I've had it have with serious cuts on my hands. It totally baffles me!

I'm good with blood normally, and can handle gory stuff to look at and handle (performing biopsies, autopsy on a dead goat, removing maggots from an infection).

Yet cut my thumb open doing dishes? Lost all my colour, guts dropped, cold sweats and shakes, and nearly threw up.
