Potential thrush help??

Heyyyy so I was diagnosed with thrush over a month ago and given an intravaginal pill that I took while on my period despite the instructions saying not to as the doctor said it would be okay. However, the thrush didn’t disappear but over time symptoms have such as the itching but I am still getting loads of discharge which is so uncomfortable. About four days ago I bought an over the counter intravaginal cream instead and I’ve still seen no improvement so of course I’m starting to worry a little. I’m off to uni on Saturday so would like this sorted by then but I’m not sure if I need to give the cream more time to kick in or whether I should see a doctor as soon as possible? Sorry for the long query, I’m a bit of a hypochondriac and panic when things don’t seem to heal with medicines!

First of all, please don't worry. It's just your intestinal flora that's out of balance. You beed to start talking strong probiotics. Unless you are already taking them?

I would buy the one pill tablet that you take with a glass of water. This targets thrush where ever you have it. Then as pp, start taking strong prebiotics to get your balance restored. You can get these as a supplement and there is a gel form to take internally.

No I haven’t taken any probiotics. Would you suggest trying that first or just speaking to a doctor today as well? Thanks.

It’s nothing to worry about first of all so don’t panic it’s very normal. Did the dr examine you prior to meds ? Probiotics will help a lot

I haven’t seen a GP but I did go to a sexual health clinic because I was initially concerned it was something else but they told me it was thrush. I’m going to see a doctor today just for some resolve but I’m definitely going to take the probiotic advice...can I get this prescribed or does it need to be bought? I also think in this month or so I’ve had it, it may have spread to my bum but I’m not entirely sure which is fantastic lol.

Have seen a doctor and she has done a swab just in case and I have taken a single pill today so fingers crossed! In the meantime what probiotics do people suggest ? I have been trawling amazon for ages and there is so many types and I’m not sure whether expensive is better etc. Thanks.

Hi I wouldn’t take any probiotics just yet! Wait till your swabs come back. I gave myself Cytolytic Vaginosis, (which mimics thrush) by taking too my probiotics and it’s ever sooooo painful!! There’s w thread on here you can read to see if your symptoms match Smile
