Anyone had a mole taken off their top lip?

I have a mole on my top lip (like Cindy Crawford's, except mine has no colour in it) which I really don't like and have never liked, but not enough to do anything about so far.

Have had it for as long as I remember.

A friend of mine told me they don't like to take them off from your top lip but she doesn't know why... do you think it's because there are so many little muscles around your mouth that it might leave a very puckered scar? Or is she just WRONG?

My dh had one removed. He did reason that he couldn't shave properly, I assume you can't use that excuse!! It hasn't caused him any trouble at all and there no scar to speak of. It might be just because if its nothing sinister they figure, 'if its not broke, don't fix it' iyswim.

Thanks MML - it does have a couple of nasty stiff dark hairs that try and grow out of it, but I always pluck them out. I'm sick of plucking them though!

I had a mole removed from below my bottom lip at the side. It was about 4mm diameter and annoyed me so was referred from GP to local nhs plastic surgeon. Was nervous but it was completely painless. He injected around it with small amount of local, then he didn't cut it out or anything, he sort of shaved it away in miniscule layers till it was level with skin surface! I just had a flat scab for a few days, this dropped off and now you can't tell it as was there!
