Detached toenail...help!

My big toenail was injured a year ago and I lost half of it. Have tried clipping it down to where it's still attached, and the actual nail still grows. However, it's still detached from the nail bed halfway down. Is there any way of encouraging it to re attach or will I always have a manky nail?

See a doctor, but I'd imagine it'll eventually fall off and regrow. Don't clip too low though- that's how you get ingrown toenails.

Can I be honest and say it will probably never reattach. Mine hasn't, 5 years.
