Anyone succeeded in doing anything that helped their TMJ?

I’ve had Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome since I was a teenager. Started as a clicking jaw and now it doesn’t click but I have a tendency to clench my jaw on that side and have to wear a mouth guard at night.

I’d like to try and fix it if possible and wondered about the merits of cranial osteopathy it similar? Is there a therapy that helps at all ?

Would also be better interested to know what others have done.

Mine is really playing up at the moment so I've been doing hot/cold compress and some exercises I found online.i read that acupuncture can help but I'll also look into cranial osteopathy.

It's really bothering me. I'm sure it's stress related.

I had some exercises to do and they really helped.

and my gp agreed that it was stress related

Mine was totally cured in 4 weeks. I found a brilliant sports physio who put on gloves and manipulated from the inside of my mouth. Man it hurt, total agony but worth every seceond of pain. Had TMJ for twenty years and never heard of this being done. In four treatments it was fixed, thats a year ago and not returned.

Mumof3 who was this physio, where are they based? Did they advertise as a TMJ therapist?

My osteopath works on my tmj from inside my mouth and it really helps.

Sorry im in Australia, the physio did not advertise they did this, however dentists otfen know who they are as they work together in the diagnosis. There are not many around but its worth spending time hunting one out. The difference it made to my life is amazing.
