Help my ear is blocked AGAIN

This is my fault as I have been using cotton buds but now I’ve stopped and started using olive oil for two days but it doesn’t seem to be helping.

I should have just used olive oil from the start. Is it worth carrying on for a few more days?

I think I just need microsuction syringing

Mine were totally blocked on one side, I used Earex advance & it cleared in 24 hours, I use it twice a week now to keep it clear.

Thank you I will try that. Better than spending £40 on microsuction!

Try steaming too - add a few drops of vicks or similar - that should really help alongside the olive oil

Someone once suggested to me olive oil and lying head / ear on a hot water bottle but haven’t tried it

Otis express combi comes with ear drops and a little bulb syringe. That cleared mine.

I'm using olive oil to try to clear wax in my daughter's ears. Our GP said most people don't use it frequently enough and you should really put drops in around 5 times a day.
After a few days of around 5 times a day one year has cleared. We're still working on the other.

NEVER use cotton buds or anything but products specifically made for ears and olive oil. Get some some olive oil and use twice a day, allowing 5 mins for the oil to soak into each ear. You may have compacted the wax by prodding it down the ear canal. So may well need irrigation or micro suction.

I will try 5 time’s a day if I can but tempted to just get microsuction as I can barely hear!

I will see if using olive oil more often will help but I doubt it otherwise will need to see if I can get microsuction or syringing. Issue with the later is getting a gp appointment to sanction it and then a separate appointment with the nurse

Whenever mine have been badly blocked, I lie down and DH drops olive oil in my ear/s. I then keep lying down for as long as I can be bothered and then go and have a shower and let the water run into my ears.
It can take days for it to start making a difference.

I would book the appt with gp then nurse. In the meantime try using olive oil more often, it will make the nurses job easier to get it out if it doesnt clear it before then. We all do draft things, at least you didnt put a bath bomb up your vagina. That would be bad.

I would book the appt with gp then nurse. yes this is how it would work but that means having to get a gp appointment and then waiting for an appointment with the nurse when it’s already bothering me as I can’t hear properly and I’ve been using olive oil for days.

They recommend 5 days using olive oil so I might just see if I can get an appointment with the GP and nurse tomorrow (as I’m off work) but I don’t know how likely that is

Bulb syringe...its a little rubber thingummy that you use to squirt water into your ears (lukewarm mind you, never hotter) after you have used olive oil or preferably otex for a couple of days. It will get the gunk out and is grimly satifying to see the big chunks of wax...
